He told the Houston Chronicle he works 60 hours a week and his only vacation time is a week off at Christmas. Before he bought the paper in 2004, he worked as a beat reporter with a suburban Dallas daily and held management jobs with other Texas weeklies.
“I really enjoy being around people,” Hargrave told the Chronicle. “So many times with a larger paper, everything tends to be kind of negative. In a community paper, everything is more positive.”
