The Florida Truth-O-Meter™ can now be seen on TV in the Tampa Bay area and Jacksonville, thanks to an exclusive partnership that PolitiFact® Florida has formed with WTSP - 10 News.

The partnership means that many of the Florida Truth-O-Meter rulings that appear in the Tampa Bay Times and online at
politifact.com/florida will now have a video companion.

“We are excited to broaden our reach so that now readers – and viewers – will be able to sort out the truth in politics,” said Tampa Bay Times Editor Neil Brown. “With the upcoming presidential election, the Republican National Convention in Tampa and dozens of other state legislative elections, this is the perfect time to expand our award-winning fact checking.”

As part of the partnership, 10 News will help scour hours of 2012 campaign speeches and TV ads for statements to check. The station also will highlight the work of the Scott-O-Meter, which is tracking the campaign promises of Gov. Rick Scott, and the Buck-O-Meter, which is tracking Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s campaign promises.

“The content from the PolitiFact team fuels Tampa Bay voters with important information to make voting decisions,” said Ken Tonning, WTSP President and General Manager.  “PolitiFact is sometimes entertaining, and always informative.”

10 News also plans to share the video PolitiFact Florida segments with its two sister stations in Jacksonville – WJXX, an ABC-affiliated station, and WTLV, an NBC-affiliated station. PolitiFact Florida also will remain on Central Florida News 13 each Sunday morning, reaching viewers from Orlando to Daytona Beach.
