The Carmel Pine Cone, a free publication for affluent Carmel-by-the-Sea in California, sparked outrage by printing the offensive word above a picture of the women on its front page.
Newspaper bosses say it was simply reporting the words of a concerned resident who spoke out against the lingerie and tequila show at a council meeting.
