So much is the People’s Daily newspaper’s embarrassment that censors have been trying to quell chatter on social networks.

Despite this, a few comments have managed to slip through about the new home of the government-controlled publication.

One user on the Chinese version of Twitter, Sina Weibo, said: ‘It seems the People’s Daily is going to rise up, there’s hope for the Chinese dream.’
