Melville, NY, September 27, 2011 – Newsday has been honored with the 2011 Newspaper of Distinction award by the New York State Associated Press Association (NYSAPA). The prestigious award, which recognizes the newspaper that exemplifies the best traditions of journalistic initiative and quality news judgment, reporting, writing, news photos, graphics and presentation, was presented at the annual state AP awards banquet on Wednesday, September 21, at the Hyatt Regency Rochester. Since the inception of the NYSAPA Newspaper of Distinction award in 1998, Newsday has received this distinguished accolade eight times.
