The go-to success story for free newspaper websites is MailOnline, but it turns out even DMGT's global traffic magnet is considering charging for some content - and could follow News International in acquiring sports rights to bring in paying users.

DMGT chairman Viscount Lord Rothermere revealed the company is "actively thinking" about a "freemium" model for Daily Mail content online, though any new move in that direction is a long way off.
