In early spring, The Times-News inserts the All-Seasons Visitor Guide into a Sunday edition of the paper. The pieces are also distributed through interstate rest areas located within the periphery of Erie. This year, the newspaper chose to expand the reach of this publication beyond the subscriber base and local geographic pick-up points. Much like their own e-edition, they partnered with Presteligence to create a personalized mobile app for their client. The Erie Visitor Guide drives visiting friends and relatives, business travelers, and attendees for weddings, reunions, conventions, and group tours to learn what’s going on in Erie.
The app is a way, outside the printed piece, to give the Visit Erie people a way to distribute information about Erie and what is has to offer to tourists who might be or are thinking of visiting our area,” says Dave Super of Erie Times-News.
The App displays the full 72 pages of the publication along with affiliated content. The table of contents lets readers jump to the page they are interested in.
The newspaper sales team can continue to add digital components through specific in-App advertising sponsorships and campaigns. The publication is free and now available in Apple iTunes.
