Newspaper publishers and banks could soon provide customers with free
smartphones and tablets as the price of the latest gadgets continues to
fall.
While top-of-the-range devices still cost several hundred dollars,
entry-level phones running on Google’s Android operating system can now
be picked up for less than $100. The recently launched Google Nexus 7
tablet is also available for under $200.
