The publisher of The Dallas Morning News says the deal his paper inked last week with NBC's owned and operated KXAS is primarily geared toward content sharing and audience building, though revenue sharing opportunities may come later.

James Moroney III, publisher and CEO of the paper, says onlookers shouldn't see the deal as a slight to WFAA, the Belo Corp.-owned station which once shared an owner and a close relationship with the paper. Moroney will roll off the Belo Corp. board with the completion of its sale to Gannett by the end of the year.
