The federal agency that is supposed to be our defender of justice seems to be ignoring a complaint that one of its agents attempted to violate the very rights she is pledged to uphold, or worse, the agency itself has practices that violate the First Amendment of the Constitution it is sworn to support and defend.

It has been more than a week since the U.S. Department of Justice received a complaint from The Daily Iberian that a senior trial attorney in its Civil Rights Division attempted to stifle coverage at a public meeting and made veiled threats to one of our reporters. And after several attempts over two days it has failed to return calls.
