CARMEL — Putnam County is paying more than $13,000 to an outside law firm for defending it against a lawsuit brought by Elizabeth Ailes, a weekly newspaper publisher and the wife of Fox News honcho Roger Ailes.
Elizabeth Ailes, who owns the Putnam County News and Recorder and Putnam County Courier, filed the suit in November and dropped it last month. The suit sought to overturn the county Legislature’s decisions naming the Putnam County Times/Press, a rival publication, as an official county newspaper and attempting to make that decision binding for more than a year.
