Charles W. Carroll died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his home in Sarasota, Fla. He was 77. He died after a two-year fight with skin cancer, said his wife of 35 years, Brenda Carroll.
Off the course, Mr. Carroll's life was in newspapers, with much of it spent in the Alle-Kiski Valley at the Valley News Dispatch (Tarentum, Penn.) and its predecessor publications
