New York -- Chad Roedemeier, the assistant chief of bureau for The Associated Press in New York, has been named the organization’s director of state news and member choice products.

As manager of one of AP’s largest product sets, Roedemeier will build on the AP’s position as the definitive source of state and local news for U.S. newspapers and broadcasters. He will be responsible for managing and developing new market opportunities for a $100 million-plus product portfolio.

In his new role, Roedemeier will be responsible for continually adjusting and strengthening AP services in response to newspaper, broadcast and digital customer needs.

Launched in 2009, Member Choice is the content and licensing program for AP’s member newspapers. It gives newspapers flexible, customized content to innovate across news consumption platforms in ways that increase readership and revenues.

Roedemeier joined the AP in 1999 as a reporter in the Atlanta bureau. He covered the Georgia legislature in 2001 before being named the regular day supervisor. In 2003, he was named the AP’s news editor in Tennessee, where he managed the state news report. Since 2008, he has been assistant chief of bureau for New York.

Before joining the AP, Roedemeier worked as a reporter and editor at The Daily Citizen-News in Dalton, Ga., and at a weekly newspaper, The Advance-Progress, in Vidalia, Ga.
