Levittown, Pa.--Calkins Media Incorporated has named Myra Cortado as its first director of business development, effective June 4, 2012. She will report directly to Calkins Media’s chief executive officer, Mark G. Contreras, and become a member of the company’s senior management team.

Cortado will be responsible for establishing a Calkins Media-wide process to vet and evaluate vendors.  She will also identify ways for their content to be connected with national content distribution platforms --either in print, broadcast or digital--that serve to expand their reach.

Cortado began her professional career at J.P. Morgan in 2002 where she served in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility within the leveraged finance area of the bank. While she began in New York City, she moved with the bank to London, New York and Hong Kong from 2002 to 2008.

In 2009, she became the budget director of Rising International in Santa Cruz, Calif., a nonprofit that supports women’s entrepreneurship prior to enrolling full-time as an MBA candidate at Columbia Business School. She graduated from Columbia in May 2012.

She holds a BSFS, International Affairs, cum laude, from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She served as the chairman of the International Relations Club, the largest student group on Georgetown's campus.
