McClean, Va.-- Gannett Co., Inc. has announced Richard Roesgen as publisher and president of the Daily World in Opelousas, La. and as publisher of The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La. He will replace Ali Zoibi, who will retire in mid-March.

Roesgen is general manager/executive editor of The Reporter and Action Publications in Fond du Lac, Wis. Prior to joining in 2009, Roesgen was president and publisher of The Sheboygan (Wis.) Press from 2000-09; president and publisher of The Reporter from 1998-2000, managing editor from 1994-98 and news editor from 1991-94. He also served as a copy editor and page designer at The Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald and as a reporter at The Lincoln (Neb.) Star, both non-Gannett media organizations.

Roesgen is past president and board member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and serves as a board member for a number of community organizations.
