Daniel M. Johnson, former director of sales and marketing for The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, Wash. will join CirTech as vice president of business development, effective Jan. 7, 2013. In his new role, Johnson will be responsible for increasing revenue, promoting and expanding the CirTech brand, and developing new products and services.
Johnson is a 25-year newspaper industry veteran and has held jobs at newspaper companies in Denver, Phoenix, and Spokane. He grew up in a newspaper family (his father was a long-time features writer for The Denver Post). Johnson began his career as a complaint driver in the home delivery department and has held positions in circulation, advertising, marketing and executive management.
“I’ve very much enjoyed my position at The Review. It is a wonderful company to work for and I will miss my co-workers a great deal,” Johnson said. “I felt that this opportunity to put my skills and experience to work for the newspaper industry at large was just too great to pass up. I love the newspaper industry and believe that newspapers will always be around. I think that the experience I bring to the table will be of great value to CirTech and its clients in a rapidly changing industry.”
Spokesman-Review publisher, Stacey Cowles, said in a press release that he was very sorry to see Johnson leave the company. “We’ve had a great run with Dan and I am very sorry we couldn’t hold on to him.”
