Bruce Headlam, editor of the media desk at The New York Times since 2008, has been named managing editor of video content development. He will succeed Richard L. Berke, who recently left The Times to join Politico.

In a note to staff released on Monday, Jill Abramson, executive editor of The Times, said that Mr. Headlam “pioneered our coverage of new media from the time it was an afterthought for many newspapers to it becoming central to the future of the industry.”
