Sarasota, Fla.-- Diane McFarlin, publisher of the Herald-Tribune for nearly 13 years and executive editor for nine years before that, is leaving the newspaper to become dean of the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida.

Allen Parsons, a former managing editor of the Herald-Tribune and more recently publisher of the Ocala Star-Banner, was named interim publisher of the Herald-Tribune.
