Brian Kokes has been named vice president of advertising at The Seattle Times. Kokes, most recently vice president of advertising at the Bay Area News Group (BANG) in San Jose, Calif., has served as the lead advertising executive for a number of California-based entities prior to joining The Seattle Times.
Prior to his role at the Bay Area News Group, Kokes served as the vice president of sales at Gold Mobile, a mobile platform provider also located in the Bay Area. Kokes has significant experience in the news media business, having served as vice president of advertising at The Los Angeles Times, and as national director of advertising at The San Francisco Chronicle.

Kokes is a native of Portland, Ore. and is an alum of the University of Oregon. His over 23 years of news media experience began at The Sacramento Bee, and includes leadership roles at The Fresno Bee and Contra Costa Newspapers (now part of the Bay Area News Group). He has also served on the board of the California Newspaper Account Executive Association (CNAEA).
