Toronto--The Globe and Mail has announced several management changes to reflect the ongoing shifts in the news business and industry. Editor-in-chief John Stackhouse said the reorganization is designed to help build new editorial products and services, help The Globe grow as a multimedia and interactive news organization, increase creativity and learning in The Globe’s newsroom, increase transparency and accessibility to the public, and continue leading the country in news.

New management changes include:

Jill Borra
has been named executive editor. She will oversee operations, guide major projects, and lead the digital, marketing and advertising departments. She previously served as features managing editor.

Adrian Norris has been named creative director. He will oversee editorial talent management, including recruiting, hiring, training and development; engagement initiatives; performance management; and labor relations. He will also oversee the entire look and feel of The Globe on all platforms, with an increasing focus on our digital brands. Norris previously served as presentation managing editor.

David Walmsley has been named managing editor. He previously served as news and sport managing editor. In addition to the news and sports departments, he will assume oversight for all daily journalism, including commentary.

Elena Cherney will continue to oversee and direct all aspects of The Globe’s business and investing coverage, but add on responsibilities including the daily ROB and Globe Investor sections and websites; The Globe’s magazine group; small business, technology and careers hubs; and The Globe’s relationship with Canada’s business community.

Anjali Kapoor has been named director of digital news strategy. The former digital managing editor will report in Singapore for the next two years and continue to develop The Globe’s digital strategy including mobile media, video and subscription models; consult on new initiatives such as community, expanded commentary, health and education, and advise the public editor on digital issues and trends.
