ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Associated Press’ president and CEO says that even though U.S. newspapers comprise only about 20% of its current revenue, the AP maintains “an enduring relationship that goes beyond business” with the industry.

In an exclusive interview at the Newspaper Association of America’s mediaXchange earlier this week, Gary Pruitt, who took over the AP last summer, conceded that broadcasters now provided the bulk of the organization’s revenue at about 43%, and that growth overall remains sluggish in North American and Europe.
