Russ Goodall has been named managing editor of The Brownwood

“I can't believe that it has been close to 16 years since I left Brownwood after graduating from Howard Payne,” Goodall said. “It feels incredible to come back to a place that I have loved my entire life. And to come back as the managing editor of the newspaper that gave me my very first job makes it even more special.” He graduated from HPU in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, then pursued his Master’s degree at Stephen F. Austin University.
“I may not have been in Brownwood as a full time resident since 1998, however I have spent all that time working in all kinds of newsrooms throughout the state of Texas,” Goodall continued. “I take pride in the fact that I was able to help lead all those different newspaper to varying successes and awards along the way. More importantly, I am proud of the way we told the stories of the people, places and things in the different communities I have worked in.”

Compton. “He has been in the industry for the better part of two decades and is a local graduate of Howard Payne University. He has lots of family in the area and truly loves Brownwood. He even started his career in journalism here at the Bulletin
. This really is a local boy comes home type story. Russ takes a tremendous amount of pride in his effort and results. I am proud to have Russ join our award-winning family of publications and digital products. Great things are certainly on the horizon.”
