Canning, Mansueto Invest in Texas Newspaper Group

The recent sale of several small newspapers in Texas has a Chicago angle.
Chicago private equity executive John Canning and Morningstar Inc. Chief Executive Joe Mansueto -- both investors in Chicago Sun-Times owner Wrapports LLC -- are two of about a dozen investors in AIM Media Texas LLC, headed by former Sun-Times Media Chief Executive Jeremy Halbreich.
AIM Media Texas was formed by Halbreich for the purpose of buying print and online publishing assets in Texas from Freedom Communications.
