Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. Appoints Two Senior Vice Presidents

Montgomery, Ala.--Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI) announces the appointment of two senior vice presidents and division managers. Robyn McCloskey, regional publisher of the Kokomo, Ind., Tribune and Pharos-Tribune of Logansport, Ind., will lead the company’s newly created Midwest Division. Robin L. Quillon, publisher of The Tribune-Democrat in Johnstown, Pa., will lead the new Allegheny Division.

McCloskey’s Midwest Division includes The Zionsville, Ind., Times Sentinel, The Lebanon, Ind., Reporter, The Commercial News in Danville, Ill., as well as the Kokomo and Logansport newspapers. Quillon’s Allegheny Division includes the Meadville, Pa., Tribune, The Star Beacon in Ashtabula, Ohio, the Cumberland, Md., Times-News, as well as The Tribune-Democrat. Both continue to serve as publisher of their respective newspapers.

“Robyn and Robin are industry veterans who understand the important job of local newspapers as the foremost providers of news and information in their markets,” said Keith Blevins, CNHI’s chief operating officer. “In these challenging times, our industry needs visionary leaders who find new ways to connect with readers and advertisers. I cannot think of more talented executives than Robyn and Robin, who have demonstrated high expectations for quality products and revenue performance."

McCloskey’s newspaper career began at the Pharos-Tribune in 1990, when she took a job as an advertising telemarketer. She held several advertising positions at the paper under the former Howard Publishing, and in 1995 she became a regional advertising director under Thompson Newspapers. In 2001, CNHI named her publisher of the Pharos-Tribune and in 2008 expanded her role to regional publisher. She is a vice president of the board of directors of the Hoosier State Press Association.

Quillon is a 28-year industry veteran who has held a variety of executive roles. He was vice president and general manager of The Frederick, Md., News Post. He was later publisher of the News Chief in Winter Haven, Fla., for Morris Communications, and subsequently served as a Jacksonville, Fla.-based regional publisher of nine Morris community newspapers. Quillon joined CNHI in 2008 as publisher of The Tribune-Democrat.
