CrowdSource, the events company of The Dallas Morning News,
today announced it purchased Savor Dallas, a premier annual food, wine and cultural festival.
“Over the last decade, Savor Dallas has become one of the great festivals of its kind in the country, and we look forward to growing the event and its strong foundation,” said Alison Draper, president and general manager of CrowdSource. “With the addition of Savor Dallas and our recent purchase of the Untapped festivals, we added two premier events with passionate followings, enabling us to create impactful consumer experiences and expand our partnership network regionally and nationally.”
Created ten years ago by Jim White and his wife, Vicki Briley-White, Savor Dallas is an annual weekend festival highlighting more than 60 top chefs from Dallas-Fort Worth and more than 400 premium wines, spirits and beers.
The Morning News
was a presenting sponsor of the 2014 event, which attracted more than 5,000 upscale food and wine connoisseurs to downtown Dallas. The 2015, four-day festival takes place March 19-22, with tickets on sale in October.
“Vicki and I are grateful to the partners and supporters who have helped us create a successful wine and food event that showcases the passion of the restaurant community, the beauty of our arts and cultural facilities, and the sophistication of the people attending,” said Jim White, co-founder of Savor Dallas. “We look forward to seeing Savor Dallas soar to even greater heights.”
The Savor Dallas acquisition represents the second significant announcement by CrowdSource in consecutive months. In June, the events company of the Morning New
s acquired the Indie music and craft beer festivals, Untapped.
“As part of the Morning News’
commitment to diversifying revenue, CrowdSource has asserted its presence within the food and entertainment events industry,” said Jim Moroney, publisher and chief executive officer of the Morning News. “These moves indicate the company is focused on continued growth.”
