Daily Press to Print in Hanover County, Lay Off More Than 80

NEWPORT NEWS – The Daily Press Media Group announced plans Tuesday to subcontract its printing operation to a Media General plant in Hanover County, resulting in the loss of around 85 jobs.

Digby Solomon, president and publisher of the Daily Press Media Group, said the decision comes after two years of discussions about how to maximize efficiency in the printing of the media group's products, which include the Daily Press, Virginia Gazette and Tidewater Review.
