Egypt's president, Mohamed Morsi,
has announced plans to respond to citizens' concerns every night on
Twitter – the latest in a series of media-savvy moves from his
administration that appear to be aimed at placating western concerns
about his governance.
The Morsi administration has been subject to
heightened foreign scrutiny in recent weeks following a crackdown on
journalists, activists and media personalities such as satirist Bassem Youssef and Sunday's siege of the seat of Egypt's Coptic church – after which Morsi was criticized for his slow reaction.
