Riverside, Calif.-- Nels Jensen has been named editor of The Press-Enterprise and vice president of news and content for Enterprise Media. Jensen replaces Maria De Varenne, who is leaving the company to rejoin the Gannett Co. as executive editor and vice president of news of The Tennessean in Nashville, Tenn.
Jensen joined The Press-Enterprise as sports editor in 2000, having previously worked at The Dallas Morning News, which he joined in 1987. He has been actively engaged in key leadership roles in the company’s news operation for over 11 years; serving as assistant managing editor and deputy managing editor of the newspaper. For the past six years he has focused on the development of Enterprise Media’s digital content strategy, most recently serving as senior director of content and programming.
