Longtime Journalist Irwin Breslauer Dies at 90

Longtime journalist Irwin J. Breslauer passed away Sept. 16, 2013 in New York City. He was 90.  

Breslauer was born April 1, 1923 in New York City to Lewis R. and Anna H. Breslauer. He was one of six children. They lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Irwin attended PS 152 and James Madison High School.  

Breslauer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the carrier USS Mission Bay. He graduated from Allegheny College and the University of Missouri School of Journalism.  

He worked as a reporter in Bluefield, W.V. and as a news editor for a radio station in Poukeepskie, N.Y. He spent more than 50 years in the newspaper industry, marketing syndicated features for United Media, the Los Angeles Times, Scripps-Howard and General Features.  

Breslauer lived in Manhattan for more than 50 years. He and his wife, Roberta, have two children: Jillouise and Todd.
