Mobile Generated News (MoGN), a mobile app that allows local television stations to customize with their own brand and make available to citizen journalists in their markets, is now in the Apple App Store and for download.
The app will be made available, exclusively, to one local TV station in every market in the United States to collect news videos and photos captured by citizen journalists. The news video and photos uploaded through the MoGN app will be vetted by professional journalists, guaranteeing that the material will be authenticated and verified.
"The Mobile Generated News app is a one of a kind mobile app that will allow citizen journalists the ability to become a part of their local news team." said Gill Davis, President/COO of MGN Online, the parent company of MoGN.
"This launch of the MoGN app is a result of two years of hard work and we are thrilled to make the app available to our clients and connect them to their local viewers." said Jeff Wald, Executive Director of Mobile Generated News.
The MoGN app streamlines the ability for news outlets to gain access to news video quickly and easily from smartphones and/or tablets. More than ever, people with their iPhones, iPads or Android devices find themselves in the middle of newsworthy events and this app will make the process of getting stories to news outlets a seamless experience. An android version is in production and will be released in the third quarter of 2013.
Mobile Generated News is the latest syndicated product from MGN Online (www.mgnonline.com), a distributor of still and animated news graphics serving more than 600 U.S. television stations and other media outlets.
