Newspaper Publisher Mark Davis Richmond Dies at 61

Lifetime newspaper executive and publisher Mark Davis Richmond of Mandeville, La. passed away June 27. He was 61.
A true entrepreneur, Richmond established many successful businesses following his retirement from daily newspapers in 2004, including The Business Journal of South Texas, Li’l Easy Publishing and R2R Media, which published disaster preparation guides for the National Weather Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency and other government agencies.
His newspaper career spanned three decades and many states. His work appeared on the pages of several newspapers, including the Pensacola, Fla. News Journal; Memphis, Tenn. Commercial Appeal; Troy, N.Y. Times; Grand Forks, N.D., Herald; Shreveport, La., Times; Altoona, Penn. Mirror; Newark, Ohio, Advocate; Eureka, Calif. Times-Standard; Bremerton, Wash. Sun; and the Corpus Christi, Texas Caller-Times.
A Brown Water Navy Veteran of Vietnam, one of Richmond’s personal missions was to give back to the country that he loved. He was a former President of the Navy League in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a graduate from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.
Richmond was born in Miami Beach, Fla. to the late Marianne Davis Richmond and Harrison Gould Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Regina Brumfield Richmond of Mandeville, La.; daughter, Elizabeth Richmond of Alabama; sister, Elaine Clark of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, William Richmond of Miami, Fla.; and grandson, Matthew Ward of Alabama.
