Pioneering Black Journalist Ben Williams Dies at 85

Washington-- The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) mourns the loss of legendary black journalist Ben Williams.
A trailblazer, he would become the first African-American reporter at the San Francisco Examiner
in 1962. Four years later he shattered another glass door when he
transitioned to television as the Bay Area’s first African-American
television reporter. He worked at KPIX-TV for more than 25 years,
alongside two other respected black broadcasters former KPIX reporters
Belva Davis and Barbara Rodgers.
