Rep. Claire Levy to Offer Compromise Newspaper Theft Measure

A Boulder legislator says she'll bring forward
legislation to offer a compromise that could satisfy the Colorado Press
Association and those who want to repeal a law that makes it illegal to
steal free newspapers.
Under the current law, anyone who takes
more than five copies of a free-distribution newspaper -- like the
Colorado Daily newspaper that is available on the University of Colorado
campus -- is guilty of newspaper theft if they have the intent of
preventing other people from reading that edition.
