Hampton, Va. -- Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications has formed a new board of advisors comprised of some of the most influential leaders in the global media and entertainment industries.

“At Hampton University we are continuing our mission of being a trailblazer in higher education,” said HU President Dr. William R. Harvey.  “We are pleased to welcome these leaders in journalism and communications to serve on the board of the Scripps Howard School.  Dean Pulley has done an outstanding job bringing together individuals who will provide expertise, insight and guidance to our journalism and communications program as it seeks to become a model for education in the future, and a center for digital media research and innovation.”

In a pioneering move that recognizes the profound manner in which digital media platforms will continue to converge with traditional journalism and communications outlets, Scripps Howard Dean Brett Pulley has organized a group of professionals that includes senior executives from firms such as Facebook, News Corp, The Walt Disney Co., The New York Times Co., Bloomberg L.P., CBS Inc., and AOL Inc.

“The journalism and communications industries are in the midst of an exciting renaissance, and the education of its future professionals must reflect that reality,” Pulley said. “This board has the breadth of expertise and knowledge necessary to help move media education into the future. With our strong foundation at Hampton University, and the raw talent, brilliance and desire that our students possess, the addition of this advisory board positions us to create a new world of opportunity for young people.”
