Tribune Co. Names Vice President of Digital Publishing--Florida

Tribune Company’s Sun Sentinel and Orlando Sentinel has appointed Julie Anderson to the newly created position of vice president of digital publishing—Florida. Anderson will begin her new position immediately, reporting to Howard Greenberg, president, publisher, and CEO of Tribune’s Florida properties.

In her new role, working closely with our executive teams, Anderson will be responsible for the Florida digital strategy, operations and management of digital products. Her portfolio includes SunSentinel.com OrlandoSentinel.com and all related websites and platforms.

“Our digital platforms represent some of the most exciting and innovative growth opportunities for us and we are so pleased to have Julie lead our initiatives here,” Greenberg said. “Julie’s extensive background in both print and digital content makes her the perfect fit, as we continue to transform our business into the future."

Anderson has led internet ventures for nearly 20 years, ranging from an internet start-up to serving as general manager of OrlandoSentinel.com. In her corporate role as senior vice president of content services for Tribune Publishing and Chicago Tribune, Anderson helped Tribune’s East Coast newspapers evolve their newsrooms and sites to meet the 24/7, multi-platform needs of consumers.

A Florida native, Anderson grew up in Orlando and attended the University of Central Florida. After reporting and editing stints at the Daytona Beach News-Journal and Orlando Business Journal, she joined the Orlando Sentinel in 1990 as copy editor, leaving briefly to lead a Tribune-Knight Ridder start up, Destination Florida LLC. She returned in 1997 to head internet business development and became GM for Orlando Sentinel Interactive in 1999, a position she held for 8 years.
