Posted: 10/31/2008  |  By: E&P Staff
Starting Monday, United Feature Syndicate will distribute the work of editorial cartoonist Mike Lester five times each week in color and in black and white. Lester?s cartoons reflect an unabashedly conservative point of view that the syndicate describes as ?edgy without being nasty.?

An Atlanta native, Lester works as the editorial cartoonist for the Rome (Ga.) News-Tribune. Before joining the News-Tribune, he worked for five years at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as its Sunday/Op-Ed illustrator and section designer. He has received numerous honors for his work, including the 2007 Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and two first-place and one second-place prize from the National Newspaper Association.

Lester also is an accomplished children?s book writer/illustrator, and has been an advertising artist for more than 20 years. He?s been recognized in each of these fields by the prestigious National Cartoonists Society, taking home the 2000 award for Best Children?s Book (??A? is for Salad?) and the 2004 award for Best Advertising Illustration (for ?Celebrex?). He was named Designer of the Year in 2003 by the Georgia Press Association.
