Virginia Newspaper Publisher Evarts Walton Opie Jr. Dies at 77

Richmond, Va.--Evarts Walton Opie Jr. guided his family’s newspaper, The News Leader, for nearly a quarter century and was a Staunton civic leader. Opie died of leukemia Friday at his Staunton home. He was 77.
