CHICAGO - GRAPH EXPO (booth #1227) - September 11, 2011 - Agfa Graphics today announced the GRAPH EXPO debut of the new :N94-VCF plate, Agfa Graphics' next-generation chemistry-free violet plate designed specifically for newspapers and coldset printers. This eco-friendly plate, the successor to the popular :N92-VCF plate, is based on Agfa's proven photopolymer chemistry-free plate technology, and now offers run lengths 30-40% longer.

"The :N94-VCF helps small, mid-size and large newspapers reap the environmental and cost savings benefits of chemistry-free plate processing. It combines image sharpness with robustness to meet today's demanding production environments," said Sheila Nysko, Director - Business Development, Agfa Graphics, North America. "Newspapers worldwide are turning to our chemistry-free plate to streamline production and reduce costs.

With :N94-VCF, users will significantly reduce the labor and costs associated with processor maintenance, while totally eliminating the need for developer, replenisher and water in the clean out process."

In addition to chemistry and water cost savings, processor energy costs are also reduced.  Instead of using a conventional photopolymer plate processor, printers can now use a simple, less expensive and easy-to-maintain clean out unit.

The :N94-VCF plate is compatible with all mainstream violet CtP units emitting at 30 mW or higher. Because it is a chemistry-free plate, there is no need for developer, removing one of the main variables affecting image consistency. The plate is cleaned with a pH neutral gum in the clean out unit. The unexposed image area is completely removed.

Agfa's innovative plate technology has set the standard for chemistry-free processing in the newspaper industry. Press operators readily accept :N94-VCF as it looks, feels and behaves like any other metal offset plate, :N94-VCF plates produce an exceptionally strong image contrast and there's absolutely no on-press contamination.  :N94-VCF brings simplicity, reliability and robustness  to the newspaper industry, while simultaneously reducing costs and protecting the environment.

Largest Portfolio of Chemistry-free

With the launch of :N94-VCF, Agfa Graphics re-affirms its position as the undisputed leader in chemistry-free plates for the newspaper and commercial print markets.
