Reporters have, on occasion, heard the accusation from all sides over
the years: “advocacy journalism.” It’s a charged term that means a
reporter is using stories to advance an agenda. While most reporters do
their best to steer clear of such accusations, one group is downright
David Darg and Bryn Mooser have launched RYOT.org, a
news outlet in partnership with actors Ian Somerhalder (“Lost,” “The
Vampire Diaries”) and Sophia Bush (“One Tree Hill”) that encourages
readers to take political action after reading news stories.
