San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group Names New Editor

Published: June 30, 2006 2:30 PM ET

WEST COVINA, Calif. Veteran news executive Steve O'Sullivan will become editor of the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group, which includes the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star-News and Whittier Daily News.

O'Sullivan most recently worked as general manager of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario. He replaces Talmage A. Campbell, 66, who is retiring.

"With this move, Steve will be returning to his roots in journalism and rejoining an organization he helped build as managing editor in the late 1990s," said Ron L. Wood, the news group publisher.

"Steve's talents and history at SGVN will be a major plus in guiding our complex organization of three dailies, 16 weeklies and specialty print publications, while at the same time advancing interactive strategies and Web dominance in our local markets."

O'Sullivan, 52, of La Verne, has held news and management positions in California, New York and Georgia.

He was business editor of the Los Angeles Daily News and, from 1995 to 1998, served as the managing editor of the San Gabriel Valley papers. He joined the Ontario paper in 1999 as executive editor.

He also has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of La Verne since 2004.
