NEW YORK Katie Johnson has been named the new managing editor for The Niles (Mich.) Daily Star.

Previously, Johnson worked as a reporter in Minnesota and North Dakota, and most recently served as news editor of the Austin (Minn.) Daily Herald.

“Katie worked for me before, so I’ve seen her creative thinking and devotion to newsgathering firsthand,” General Manager Bryan Clapper said in an announcement from the paper. “I know she’ll bring a lot of positive change to the Star.”
