NEW YORK Sweden's Tolerans introduced two new servo-driven ribbon stitchers for tabloids, mini-Berliner and semi-commercial jobs this week at the IFRA Expo in Vienna.
The latest, more modular Speedliner model was designed for easier operation and maintenance. Rail-mounted for easier repositioning, it can stitch straight (up to 110,000 copies per hour) or in skip-stitch mode.
Speedliner 2.0 features include central lubrication, service cassette with stitching fork, wire rest, and easily removed cutting/forming unit. Its remote modular controls with service-interval monitor and instructions can be integrated with most press control systems, according to the company.
Just four inches high and weighing about 100 pounds, the Speedliner S60 Compact is designed for spaces that previously could not fit a cross-web stitcher. The half-size stitcher operates at up to 60,000 copies per hour in straight or skip-stitch mode.
