NEW YORK Barnes & Noble rolled out a digital reader on Wednesday called nook.
Nook has a color touch screen, an E Ink display and is based on the Android operating system. It connects through Wi-Fi and the AT&T 3G network -- users can connect for free at Barnes & Noble stores. Readers can also "lend" digital books for 14 days.
"With our nationwide footprint, Barnes & Noble customers can see, touch and hold nook," William J. Lynch, president of Barnes & Noble.com, said in a statement. "Our 40,000 booksellers are ready to help customers discover how easy it is to download and read eBooks on nook." Newspapers and magazine are accessible through nook as well.
Barnes & Noble is offering eBook titles more than 1 million for $9.99. More than 20 newspapers like The New York Time, the Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, are available on the nook for a subscription.
The digital reader hits the market in November, with a retail price of $259.00.
