More Job Cuts Sought at Goss

By E&P Staff

NEW YORK In a message to employees, Goss International said it will offer buyouts of a week's pay for each of up to 26 years of service and eligibility for continuing health benefits.

The Monday memo was obtained by Foster's Daily Democrat in Dover, N.H. A Goss spokesman did not disclose details, including the number of jobs the pressmaker seeks to eliminate.

The spokesman did tell E&P that the memo "didn't allude to anything specific" regarding the possibility of layoffs in the event of an insufficient number of voluntary terminations.

Goss employees had just returned from this year's third two-week furlough, and the latest news follows two rounds of layoffs in January and May, the paper reported.

Most remaining Goss employees in New Hampshire work at its Durham facility. The company leases part of the facility it sold in Dover.
