Baldwin Equips More Presses in Japan

NEW YORK Baldwin Technology Co. announced it has received approximately $1.2 million in equipment orders from two Japanese newspaper and commercial printers.

Kousoku-Offset ordered Baldwin's Super Washer and spray dampening systems, for installation on a new TKS press at its Settsu Plant. Deliveries are planned for July 2010 and February 2011. Kousoku-Offset, part of Mainichi Newspaper, one of Japan's three largest newspaper publishers, operates five sites that print commercial work and newspapers, including the mass-circulation Mainichi Shimbun group and Sports Nippon group.

Over the next year, Asagami Press Center will receive Baldwin spray dampening for a new TKS 6200 press. Asagami operates seven sets of presses at three facilities, where it prints commercial work and newspapers, including Yomiuri Shimbun group and Tokyo Shimbun group.

The sales resume Baldwin's considerable business a year ago with Japanese newspaper companies (E&P Online, Oct. 1, 9, 15, 2008).
