'Brandon Sun' to End 'Globe and Mail' Printing, May Move its Own

NEW YORK The Brandon (Manitoba) Sun reported Thursday that CTVGlobemedia has agreed to extend the current contract for the Sun to print the Globe and Mail from February through September of next year. But the Sun will no longer publish the Toronto-based national daily's Manitoba and Saskatchewan edition after that, ending a 25-year business relationship.
Sun Publisher Ewan Pow said the end of his paper's 25-year role as a Globe and Mail printer did not also mean the seven-day Sun would discontinue its own printed edition.
To offset the revenue loss, however, the 13,728-circulation (22,018 Saturday) Sun probably will relocate its printing and some other functions from Brandon to the paper's sister facility at the larger (119,000-circulation) Winnipeg Free Press. Both papers are owned by FP Canadian Newspapers LP.
Pow told his paper that a final decision awaits findings of a "review of all logistical and economic options." E&P Staff
