PrintCity at Work on Carbon Footprint Measurement

By E&P Staff

Published: November 09, 2009 1:37 PM ET

NEW YORK The PrintCity Alliance of vendors is researching carbon footprint and energy efficiency in the printing and packaging industry, with the objective of analyzing and providing guidance on how to measure and use carbon footprints, as a catalyst for improved process efficiency and environmental performance.

PrintCity will network with other organizations at the European level, inviting them to contribute to and review the research. The initiative aims to "help harmonise and improve how our industry understands and utilises Carbon Footprints," according to an alliance announcement.

PrintCity members involved are manroland, UPM, Sun Chemical, Kurz, Trelleborg, Sappi, Faist, MKW and M-real, as well as project partner Kodak.

A best-practices guide will be published next year.
