'Muscatine Journal' Appoints New Publisher

MUSCATINE, Iowa Lee Enterprises Inc. has announced that Bob Blackman has been named publisher of the Muscatine Journal.

The Davenport, Iowa-based company on Thursday said that Blackman will come to Muscatine from Columbus, Neb., where he was publisher at the Telegram since 2003. Before that he was publisher of the Daily Sun in Beatrice, Neb., for three years.

Blackman started his career with Lee Enterprises in 1984 as retail advertising manager with the Quad-City Times.

His first day on the job at Muscatine will be Oct. 12.

Lee operates 53 daily newspapers, online sites and more than 300 specialty publications in 23 states.
