NEW YORK The World Series battle between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies has sparked an alliance of sorts between two of the cities' tabloids.
The Daily News of New York and the Philadelphia Daily News have been exchanging about 500 copies of each day's paper since the series began last week, with hawkers in each city selling both products.
Blair Lyon, sales development manager of Philadelphia Media Holdings -- which owns the Philadelphia Daily News and Philadelphia Inquirer, says 30 locations in each city are selling copies of both papers through the day after the series ends. "It is not a revenue source, it is more about public relations," she says. "We just wanted to have a presence up there."
New York's Daily News officials did not immediately respond to E&P's request for comment.
