NEW YORK Michelle Hessling has been named the publisher of four GateHouse Media Inc. newspapers in Pennsylvania: The Wayne Independent in Honesdale, The News Eagle in Hawley, The Carbondale News and The Villager in Moscow.

Hessling has served as general manager of the Wayne Independent, Carbondale News, and the Villager since July 2009. As publisher she succeeds Steve Fountain, and is taking over the position of publisher at the News Eagle from Glenn Khoury, who had been serving as publisher and advertising director. Khoury will retain his position as ad director, a position he has held for more than 20 years.

Hessling joined the Wayne Independent in 1992 as advertising manager. She was promoted to director of advertising sales for the Wayne Independent, Carbondale News and the Villager in 2006.
